Mid-Semester Break (10 Mar 2002 at 14:05)
This weekend is Mid-Semester break for us at CMU. I did a lot of stuff.

First, I tried to replace the battery in my car, but the nuts were sealed with LocTite(TM) (???) so I ended up cutting them off. I had to splice in new battery connectors, which were "Nascar Select" brand or something. They didn't seem like Nascar stuff to me, but whatever.

I found a five year-old smashed can of grape soda wedged in my radiator, too, that was pretty funny. Fixing your car is fun.

Some of us crazy first-year graduate students went on a hike at Keystone State Park (check it out at defunctparks.com!) The park basically sucks; the trail was like 1 mile long. But we had a good time anyway. We wandered off and found a bunch of pumps (Ride 'em Cowboy!) and fields. Then we went to the Army Corps of Engineer's thing and stood in their river. Actually, Mark did more than stand in it! Then we climbed some trees and some more trees. The highlight of the whole trip was when we found a pile of dried up corn in the woods, and played cornball. I totally rule at cornball.

We also wandered through this creepy abandoned trailer park with lots of awesome junk around. Matt was sure that it was some sort of cult, but it wasn't.

Yesterday I recorded my tenth Album-A-Day, East Key to Trip. I also spent some time working on my map for Quake 3 Fortress that I hadn't worked on in about a year. Today I am studying for my networks midterm and writing up a synopsis of my ol' Senior Thesis for a paper I'm now co-authoring.

The abstract for the linear types paper has a few spelling errors.

Aha... those "fi" ligatures disappear when you copy from the PDF. ;)
