May Showers Bring May Something

Yesterday we had one killer storm [2] [3] [4] in Pittsburgh, with hail and 80 mph winds. Someone died and several were injured at Kennywood, and their most eccentric (and probably my favorite) ride, "The Exterminator", seems to have been damaged. (img) Trees are down all over the place, and the streets are covered in debris.
Some people think it was a tornado -- I don't know about that, but I did see some really weird cloud activity outside my house right before it hit. The clouds appeared to be rising upward very quickly. The amount of rain pouring in my window was totally amazing, like a dozen shower heads firing through the screen across my living room. The futon was soaked.
Anyway, me and 60,000 others are without power for the next few days (Duquesne Light promises service by Thursday, 14 December 2000???), so it looks like I'll be hanging out at CMU for a while...
