Why Fireflies are the Best Insects Ever Invented
(19 Jun 2002 at 23:29) |
I'm lucky enough to have fireflies around the area where I live, and on a nice summer night like tonight I get to see them doing their thing on the walk home. Here's why fireflies are the best insects ever invented: - For some reason they actually like to land on your hand and come for a ride
- The bugs themselves are actually pretty cute, rivaled perhaps only by ladybugs
- They don't bite or sting
- Their asses freaking light up
Now, when do I get to see the Brood VIII Magicicadas that are supposed to be coming this year? |

yeah, those buggers (fireflies) are cool. Amy gave one a kiss the other day. There's a swarm of those things around our apartment complex.
Dessert w/ Bruney tonite? I'll call ya when I get in.

Karthik,
You have fireflies inside your apartment complex? That is extremely cool.

I wish...
All we have are fruit (non-fire?)flies.

I enjoyed tripping thru here, I'm an unfortunate Oregonian, no fireflies, what is a magicicada? 17 YEAR cycle? hmmm.. am not expecting a reply, but rather hoping to get nearest firefly viewing area info+ ?magicicada? update... peachgobbler069@yahoo.com (Cheryl)
thanx ps why don't our asses light up? |
Magicicadas are bugs that live in the ground for 17 years (!) and then come out and swarm to lay the next brood. They are often mistaken for locusts.
I'm not sure why our asses don't light up, but that would be pretty damn sweet if they did. |
