Merry Christmas, Action Jackson (26 Dec 2008 at 23:28)
Two independent sightings of my font Action Jackson in the same week! It's having a good Christmas. First Moira sent the following totally sweet Pterodactyl t-shirt on her nephew:

Pterodactyl shirt with Action Jackson

That's my font at the bottom. The shirt looks pretty pro but the hollow insides of the letters are strangely filled in with yellow. I don't really understand how that mistake is possible. Still if they make it in Kid's X-Large I gotta get me one of these. Next Nels spotted and then kindly returned to take photos of the font being used in New Orleans Arena at a Hornets pro-basketball game. Here it is up on the big screen and also scrolling annoyingly in every addressable part of the periphery:

New Orleans Hornets big screen with Action Jackson

(It occurs to me that with a name like Action Jackson, the popularity of this font might just be from its abecedarian advantage.) Anyway I love sightings to the max, so please send them if you snag 'em!

That is so cool that you can make a good font and release it for free and, just like that, a bunch of people will put it on t-shirts and sports arena displays. Clearly, fonts are scarcer than music (when was the last time someone heard one of your songs in a TV show?)

Yeah, I think I got lucky choosing that hobby when I did and populating a particular lowbrow niche. (Though "just like that" is more like "wait ten years" in this case!) I never hear my music by coincidence but occasionally people I don't know use it in their little movies and stuff, for example this recent featured youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZppqfmAWz8

I gotta say, I was totally blown away when I saw this, and my immediate reaction was, "there's no way that could be Tom's font." But I guess the more you think about it, the more reasonable it seems. Those people at the Arena are just looking for interesting fonts, and probably searching Google for "free fonts," just like the rest of us. Yours just happened to be the most action-packed.

I want that shirt too!

Maybe in the series finale of LOST, they will unearth ancient dot matrix printer and use it to print out long banner in "I suck at golf" that will be seen by airplane who will rescue them!

Speaking of DBZ Font sightings, there's a Firefox theme out there that has Tombats all over it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/695

"do you think (just a question) you could re-do this font and make the letters straight and not so crokkedy (crooked + ee) ?"

Not bad! I guess I should keep track of this geographically so that I can bestow awards. I know there have been international sightings (I recall one in Ireland) but now I can't remember them. You can hold the trophy for now.

BTW Next time you see something sweet in a museum, it's heist time!

Awesome. If there is a (digital) trophy, I will gladly display it until it is awarded to someone else.

As for heists, I'm pretty sure the sign was protected with lasers and stuff.

Another (somewhat unfortunate) sighting:
www.avclub.com/articles/fred-the-movie,46035/
(the dvd menu clip)

Bonus points if anyone can stand to watch any of that for more than 10 seconds (I certainly couldn't).
