February snows bring march thundersnows

Some other things happened!
When I did my thesis proposal last week I also created a fake thesis proposal talk as a stress-relief exercise. Those who were on time to my practice talk saw it, but William didn't and asked me about it and so here it is for him and for posterity. Don't expect anything amazing.
I completed ListenQuest mini 2006. The last time I did this was in April of last year. It's when I listen to every MP3 in my collection that I didn't make and is rated 3 or higher. Since I accidentally enqueued them twice and then randomized when I was part-way through, I actually ended up listening to them all 2 times. This means about 38 hours of music, which took me several weeks to finish. Now I feel a little lost when I sit down at my computer since I need to, you know, think about what I want to listen to.
Every time I get back into running daily we get some kind of crazy snow or storm that does me in. Like two nights ago we had snow and rain and lightning all in one, and this morning the sidewalks are all frozen with invisible ice. Go away, weatherman!
What else? Puppet party coming up this weekend means for sure some nice photo opportunities. We also went to a bunch of concerts recently. Each had its problems, but listening to all of this live music is making me want to make music again. I gotta tune this piano and crap somethin' out, AAD-style. |

Your fake thesis proposal talk is so awesome, I think I am going to use it for my thesis proposal talk. I might like, put a post-it over the "Tom 7" part, ala Strong Bad.

That was an awesome thesis proposal. I showed it to all two of my work friends that happened to be in my office when I looked at it. |
Go for it, C. I've even seen that you have virtual post-it technology in your computer!! |
I also should have mentioned in this post that although each of the recent concerts had its problems, I thoroughly enjoyed myself at all of them. |
A new Tom 7 Album a Day would be most awesome. MOST awesome.
I was actually planning on busting a new one out myself next week, if I can find the time. |
what concerts? |
A couple local acts I'm sure you haven't heard of. We also saw the Fiery Furnaces two nights ago, which I was excited about, but it was pretty disappointing. The delicacy of the recordings just wasn't there; it was just all like angsty. I mean, Jason Loewenstein was on bass. (??) |
Ah... I like their records a bunch, but have heard similar things before about them being disappointing live.
Glad to hear you are keepin' it local. |
you earned GOLD STAR UNTITLE.PHD |
Wow, that's like, the *best* fake thesis proposal talk i've ever seen.. |
Man no wonder you've been outscrobbling me so hardcore lately. Yeah make an album, but I want more computer stuff. Actually wait, if you make an album before making NSANO, well, that would be pretty unethical, you know... |
I guess that's true... nsano is the kind of thing I can probably crank out without using up the whole day. But part of the idea of an album is to shed some of that music creation anxiety. |
Well whatever leads to the most expedient and high quality production of N*SANO, then. |
I've never heard a Fiery Furnaces record, but yeah, I saw them live once and it was just, ugh, I just could not deal, I was just trying to disassociate or something, not be there, just praying for the stage to blow up right away or something, they were so incredibly gratingly awful... |
