RC: It's subjective whether your alternate solution constitutes a cook. Generally one can tell from the original solution whether you did it in a substantially similar way, or whether you avoided important parts of the puzzles; if the latter, then it's a cook. It's definitely possible for there to be interesting alternate solutions that are not cooks; some really loose puzzles (like the gold and sphere-shoving puzzles) have many interesting solutions. If you mean the "cooked 3/12" kind of thing rating, that is determined when players rate levels after solving them, and check the 'cooked' box.

Dumb questions. If I upload a solution not as a speedrun is it considered a cook? If not Who or What determines a cook.

I'm sure this has already been thought of. But what about a Crumbling block or something that takes two (or more) touches or explosions to remove.

I got rid of the duplicates.

This happens when my computer runs out of disk space. I fixed it, so you should be able to upload now.

Thanks for the suggestions, and thanks for the compliment!!

I tried to upload a speedrun to lev850 and got "Upload failed: fail (bug) bad solution". It seemed good to me. I have uploaded before. I could try another board or make a test board and try that. Any ideas. Escape200602240 WinNT4(old School)
In regards to the level browser, logical directories are the way to go I think as well as physically moving solved (or something) levels that would satisify both performance and functionality issues. It would also be nice if the level browser saved it's state. Which I am sure you already considered. Oh what the heck, while your at it, you might as well write a complete file manager that can sort files create new directories and "move" levels however one wants. That would make everybody happy. For me escape is already the best puzzle game I have ever played so the rest is just icing.

Well, it marks the anniversary of the start of the Iraq war, so it's a natural day to hold one. I'm not sure if they are all (or many) organized by the same people.

Heh, I'm glad that you appreciate the fact that I will "pan an album [I] actually don't like." Some of my friends sometimes say that I am a music snob or a fashion snob (neither of which I will really deny) because I will tell people when I dislike their music or outfits (probably other things too, but those seem to come up the most I guess), but I always say that I think it winds up a positive thing cuz then people know that I really mean it when I give folks compliments (and I hope I give more compliments than critiques).

Anyway, my opinion on your newest AAD: Really I quite like it a lot. I pretty much actively like almost every song. There are only two that I think aren't so great (Brain Coral and Japan On Mad), but even those I don't really mind, I just am not terribly into them. As for the rest, I like all of them very well, and especially like Self Life and Nothing Day, and extra especially love Spring Break Pittsburgh 2006 wooo, and then super great ultimate for me is Princess Of Justice!

OK, so limiter is better than clipping, but unnecessary if softclip is on.

After discovering yet another strange mushroom/fungi thingy emerging from the exterior side of my shower base (similar to the fungi in the image here) I decided it would be a wise move to search the net to broaden my appraisal of the situation - and, as luck would have it, arrived at this site.

The fungi I am finding seems to match more closely the description of a "pig skin" as so described by someone else here.

I have been living where I am for about a year and during the last 12 months have removed approx eight bathroom "mushrooms" and doused the bathroom area in bleach each time. Finally decided it would be a good idea to check out Dangerous Fungi on the net and this site popped up. Thanks for all the suggestions - salt & hydrogen peroxide - and links.......and now I know I am not alone!

(I live in far southern Australia, by the way).

I am intending to 'research' the fungi growth lurking in my bathroom and hopefully source some information from specialists in the field. If I discover the specimen I co-exist with is health-hazardous I will be sure to let you all know.

Just went down stairs to our second bathrrom that we don't use very much. The multiple landlords have all had problems getting the shower tyling right. I guess it still isn't right. If I owned and didn;t rent I guess I wouldn't be so astonished. Ours are like 5-6inches big. Check out the pictures:

Through some rummaging around through help files, it looks like they act a bit differently:

"The Limiter section
Limiter is designed to ensure that the output level never exceeds a certain set output level, to avoid clipping in following devices. Conventional limiters usually require very accurate setting up of the attack and release parameters, to totally avoid the possibility of the output level going beyond the set threshold level. Limiter adjusts and optimizes these parameters automatically, according to the audio material. You can also adjust the Release parameter manually.

The available parameters are the following:

Threshold
-12 - 0dB
This setting determines the maximum output level. Signal levels above the set threshold are affected, but signal levels below are left unaffected.

Release
10-1000ms or "Auto mode"
This parameter sets the amount of time it takes for the gain to return to its original level when the signal drops below the threshold level. If the "Auto" button is activated, Limiter will automatically find an optimal release setting that varies depending on the audio material."

"Soft Clip section
Soft Clip is designed to ensure that the output level never exceeds 0dB, like a limiter. Soft Clip, however, acts differently compared to a conventional limiter. When the signal level exceeds -6dB, SoftClip starts limiting (or clipping) the signal "softly", at the same time generating harmonics which add a warm, tubelike characteristic to the audio material. Soft Clip is simplicity itself to use as it has no control parameters. The meter indicates the input signal level, and thus the amount of "softclipping". Levels in the green area (weaker than -6dB) are unaffected, while levels in the yellow-orange-red area indicate the degree of "softclipping". The deep red meter area to the right indicates input levels higher than 0dB.

Avoid feeding Soft Clip with excessively high signal levels as audible distortion may occur, although the output level will never exceed 0dB."

Thanks! Your opinion means a lot (especially since I know you will pan an album you actually don't like)...

Do you think the limiter in VSTDynamics (or equivalent) does something other than just clip? Like simulate the sound of an analog limiter? I guess I don't really know, but I assumed they just clipped.

4283. Sophia (c-24-218-58-208.hsd1.ma.comcast.net) – 17 Mar 2006 09:12:50 NEW: AAD-20: Betrayal at the Knights of Columbus ]
Yeah, I agree that your recordings have sounded quite good these days. I think that you get a very good balance of spending just enough careful prep time to make things sound substantially better than if you were completely careless about it.

I don't think that most applications will automatically limit your final audio output if it goes over 1.0. Most will just clip the output, I think, unless you set something up to limit the output.

Also, I do quite like this AAD so far (especially Princess Of Justice! I've been listening to it over and over all around town the past couple of days; played it for Kaitlin in the car yesterday and she liked it right away, too; very catchy, and perfectly cheesy). But I'll give a more proper dumping of my thoughts once I listen to it a few times more...
