Sure, in fact those chalkboards are made of canvas and they roll up and around so you don't need to erase during a lecture.

Yeah, the presentation isn't going to make much sense unless you have a background in logic and computer science, at a minimum. But if you thought that was obscure, you should have seen the others. ;)

They still have chalk boards in Oxford!

Space and Time travel interesting. I would choose to address it in a more interesting way though :). didn't get a thing of ur presentation may thats becoz i'm still an undergrad from an absolutely irrelevant department.

Yes, I agree, and I have indeed left that unsatisfied.

well since we are talking about the initial pre-requisites to unlimited corruption it is the initial weakening that matters. Because if you
don't have that then unlimited power may not lead to unlimited corruption.

However, as to your having said that inital weakening of psychological state leads to further weakening this sounds probable.

What I mean is that the weakening of one's psychological state leads in fact to *more* weakening, producing a positive feedback loop. I'm not sure what causes the initial weakening.

i see what you're trying to do, interesting. But can't get the explicit sense of it. What do you mean by positive feedback? how does this lead to a weakening of ones psychological state?

I think that the idea is that unlimited power necessarily leads to a gradual "positive feedback" weakening of one's psychological state, and thus along the road to unlimited corruption as you describe.

unlimited power may not lead to unlimited corruption. U need a decently messed up cerebral cortex or a profoundly bizzare psychological state or in lieu of the context ridiculous powers of reasoning or a 'lez bomb other places to stone age' fun spirit along with unlimited power to get to being unlimitedly corrupt.

(Things that are tricky are things that are not activated directly by stepping onto or pushing into them; in this case being activated by walking away from or orthogonal to a block.)

2845. Tom 7 (38.136.12.131) – 27 Aug 2005 04:26:03 NEW: Escape Beta 2! ]
Yeah, that could maybe work, but it would be a bit tricky to implement, unless implemented as a bot.

Idea: sticky block. Push into it, then pull back and the block will move with you until you move orthogonally to the direction of pull.

Unrelated: is there any particular reason that exit doors open when bots walk across them?

2843. Tom 7 (38.136.12.131) – 26 Aug 2005 21:35:04 I was an infinitely cold and rainy dot ]
I think that is NOT WHAT I MEANT.

2842. Tom 7 (38.136.12.131) – 26 Aug 2005 21:27:35 NEW: Escape Beta 2! ]
DoctorMO: Yes, I've often thought the same.. the main problem is that I am firmly committed to there being only four inputs in the game: the four arrow keys. So any block that would require you to (say) hold down another key to pull it is not gonna happen.

The closest to a pushable block that I have considered making is 'jelly', which the player can swim through, "pulling" it behind him when he does. But this would be a really annoying way to move things across the level, because you'd have to keep walking around the jelly block for each square you wanted to move it.

Actually, hugbots are already a bit like pullable blocks, in a way.

Other ideas?

Don't worry, Brandon, some of us block-pushing geeks have been doing this longer than you have been alive (yikes, old!) so we just have really "advanced" notions of what makes a good puzzle. That doesn't mean that we never started out plaing this kind of game just for fun, and I don't want to discourage you from playing, or from making levels!

I think mostly people were just upset that you uploaded a level using someone else's name, so if you avoid that, I'm sure there won't be any more fights... ;)

By the way, you know how to post comments on levels from the game, right? Just select one and press ctrl-c.

It'd be good to have some blocks that you can pull as well as push...

I had a mushroom growing out of the side of my bathroom too. It is white with some yellow spots in the middle and is about 2 inches tall. It has a sunken in look at the top. I could smell the mushroom smell when I picked it out. I hope I do not get sick. I have only been living in this apartment for 2 months. It has those small 1 inch square tiles, maybe that's the problem.

I know new tiles are a long way off, but I thought of a candidate for later: blue-yellow and yellow-blue blocks. Blue-yellow behaves like a blue, yellow-blue behaves like a yellow, and the 0/1 switch swaps them the way it swaps horizontal/vertical blocks. (I think this could make for some interesting yellow-pushing puzzles.)

Did you mean "With great power comes great responsibility" from Spiderman the movie? Clearly not because you're drinking 10 beers per pub. Cheers!

Well, I'm of the opinion that macroscopic mushrooms are no more of a health hazard than any of the microscopic bacteria and funguses that live in your bathroom and everywhere else in your house. We live with these environmental pests (and sometimes, friends) every day, visible or not.

Still, it seems best to pluck them out... ;)

2834. Anonymous (66-211-194-93.velocity.net) – 25 Aug 2005 09:09:19 Bathroom? Mushroom! ]
Yet, another mushroom discovery! My daughter announced that a mushroom was growing by the bathtub! I yelled up to her 'that's ridiculous!' Well, outdone once again by my children! I found a perfect looking mushroom, growing from a stem, unlike the ones in the above photos.

I had NEVER heard of anything like that. I told my best friend about it and she's shocked! I clean my bathroom ALL of the time! But my husband and daughter splash water waaaay too much!

Pretty scary about the health hazards!!

I hope to see more info about this!

Thanks!

Cool, I don't remember drawing it, but I have been having these strange dreams recently and waking up in a cold sweat with electrodes attached to my scalp...
