A long-forgotten piece of my past has recently resurfaced. I didn't think much about it, but I am the guy who wrote JAZZ.MID and REGGAE.MID that come with the SoundBlaster. "

Thanks, I am glad you like it. I also implemented your suggestion of sending the player into comment mode when he says that he's cooked a level.
Next is animation! |

and I beat him 10-5. He went for the BFG a couple times but even if you discount that I still would've won 10-8. :D
(and don't expect it to be much easier with the strategy I gave--it's still hard as hell) |

[ Quake 3 Done! ]
Here is a good way to beat Xaero on Nightmare without tricking him into killing himself. This is basically how I finally beat him (not exactly obviously) but this is kind of the strategy I used. You have to remember that the spawn points alternate from side to side.
Step 1. Quickly grab railgun and rail Xaero before he grabs the railgun. Hide behind pillar on the left. He'll usually back up to get the health, then he'll shoot and miss. Then pop out and rail him again.
Step 2. Grab the railgun again so he can't get it when he spawns. Grab the rocket launcher. He'll spawn on the same side as you. Rox him to death (or rox with a finishing rail maybe) and grab the health if you've been hit (his machine gun is as wicked as his rail).
Now he'll spawn on the opposite side. Repeat step 1 and rail him to death. Try to do this over and over again.
Step 3. If you die while he's on the other side from you, you'll respawn on the same side. If you've railed him once, machine gun him to death (you can try rox if he's grabbed the health in the meantime), taking a hit if need be. If you haven't grab rox and try to take off some of his health. He'll usually go for the lower jumppads. Grab the rail and rail him as he crosses (you'll probably take a hit). Grab health and do it all over again from step 1.
Step 4. If you die while he's on the same side as you, you'll respawn on the opposite side. Hope that he doesn't have the railgun yet and try to repeat from step 1. If he does, try to get at least a rail on him and try from step 3. |

Well, it's 75 pages longer, so I guess that means it's an easier read? |

I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but this felt shorter than your first novel. Maybe it was the plot. (that it had more of a plot, not the content of the plot) |

LOL! Great job! |
|
Thanks for the recommendation... that book looks pretty sweet. |
|
Ah, my bad; nevermind me. I must have been tired when I read that part; "belief" the noun makes sense to me now.
Now that you're done the novel and have free time (right??), you should check out _Codex Seraphinianus_ by Luigi Serafini. There's apparently a copy at the CMU library (the call number is 704.655 S48C). |
|
I think I actually meant "belief" as the noun, but, you're right, that is pretty awkward. |
|
'nother Typo:
page 102 - "the more prone we are to belief in fanciful solutions” - probably want "believe", unless "belief" is a verb in the future. |

Man I was too busy having fun to learn anything from that biology one... |
|
Thanks! I'll fix the typo for a future "2nd edition."
Inconsistencies are no doubt quite common---perhaps a theme of the book. But maybe that one should be fixed. |
|
Oooh, another editorial correction I just found:
On page 95, Figure 3.1 reads "The 629,533rd Floor", and the notice on page 96 reads "Floor 629,533". However, this seems to contradict the triskaidekaphobia mentioned in footnote 7 on page 21. The 13th floor would be numbered 14, and so on, so the 629,533rd floor would presumably be numbered 629,534 on an official notice. |
|
How'd that get by the editor?! |
|
Good so far.. The first non-Vargomax V. Vargomax typo I just found:
page 91 in the 8x11 version, "vagrants who my eventually" - I assume the "my" should be "may".
|
|
You read it already? I don't believe you. |
|
I enjoyed it immensely, especially the naughty bits. |
|
The perfect stocking stuffer! |
