Isn't that the same thing as strong normalization? Existence of a normal proof for any provable proposition = existence of a normal term for any well-typed term. This typically also gives you consistancy, since you can just add _|_ to your language and show that, since it has no normal form, and since it has no introduction rule, it must also not have a normal proof (which means it can't have a proof at all); at least that's how Gentzen did it, I hear.

Saw an article about your work on a font site, so I decided to jet on over to see what was up. I haven't looked at your work yet, but I have seen a few paragraphs on your personals! You're funny! That mushroom "thing" was interesting!...:-) But what compelled me to comment, was the end of this paragraph! (I laughed!) "uh,bye" I have a friend that I send e-mail to, & I'm a "detail" person. We've been friends for 25 yrs. More like family. I send a 3 page e-mail, (I love this!) and I get... "Well, alrighty then!" I roar with laughter everytime I get that! But then I see the face that goes with it, along with the playful attitude, behind it! And I KNOW that on and off all day, this person will think of that reply, and giggle about it! So then I send a [LA=GRAM!]:-) Your "uh,bye" made me think about that! Thanks for the smile! JustBevi

I totally ruled. I'm going to be the John Conner of the upcoming robot wars.

Not really strong normalization (though I believe that would be true, too), but the existence of normal proofs for any provable proposition. That's an important property, I hear, for having a good Martin-Lo:f approved logic.

I have, also, many times today, thought of writing a program to do this proof for me. But now I am stuck on a case (called, amusingly, GOTO), which any such program surely would not have handled...

This is why I was trying to get the Twelf theorem prover to prove cut elimination for me (8 times over, actually) earlier in the summer, but unfortunately the only theorem that I got it to prove successfully was false (one of its immediate consequences: every term in the simply-typed lambda calculus is canonical). Since I don't have the patience to prove cut elimination once, let alone 8 times, I'll have to wait until the Twelf theorem prover is reimplemented, or, more likely, reimpliment it myself (which is a scary proposition in and of itself, since my h4x0r1ng 5k1llz, which were never that great to begin with, are uber-rusty by now).

Are you using cut elimination to try to prove strong-normalization of your symmetric, modal lambda calculus, or is this something else?

Collect the spores and study them.
This could be a scientific break through!

Indeed, I found him through the livejournal link from your friends page. Then I was like, "Maniac Mansion TV Show, sounds sweet!" And how sweet it was. It was almost as relieving as when I went back and beat that evil, troubling NES game "Faxanadu" that I could never beat as a kid. That game is fucken ridiculous, like if you go in the wrong door, then you might waste your King key that you have to go all the way back to some far-away town to buy, but then when you try to come back with the King key, you'll realize that you now need to get another Queen key, so you have to go back even farther in order to get one of those.

Tuuur: Schneider is that Saturday Night Live guy who starred in such masterworks as "The Animal" and "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo."

They actually pushed through from under the grout... I'm not sure I want them pushing through in any other directions.

Anyway, what kind of super mushrooms can grow in Bleach?

Yes! A wondrous show. It was on the Family Channel, and I watched many episodes of it. It had a cool (but odd) theme song: "Maniac Maaansion... Maniac Maaaaaannnnnnnsion! The Edison's... family!" etc.

The existance of the show was actually worked into the plot of the sequel game, "Day of the Tentacle", which is one of my favorite games. The family was cheated out of the royalties for the TV show, because Dr. Fred locked the contract in the safe and forgot the combination. Only by pushing a old lady down the stairs to get to the VCR to record the de-caffinated Dr. Fred sleepwalking and opening/closing the safe to learn the combination to get the contract, then have Fred sign it, send it back in time to get there before the show aired, can you then get enough money to buy the real diamond to power the time machine to save your friends and ultimately the world.

Even more amazingly, I saw the guy who played Dr. Fred at the airport just last night...

2 fat, 2 skinny. Sometimes 3 fat, 1 skinny.
And I agree, NES is the best ice hockey game of all time.

Arr!!

Yeah, I agree, I don't use the medium guys at all.

My 150-pound 5'6" "Tom Seven" player, the shortest and lightest in the league, is also the league leader in hits and penalty minutes.

The Pirates in NHL? That must be neat!

In the NES hockey game, who did you play as? I like two fat guys and two skinny guys, I thought the medium build guys were a waste of time.

Yeah? Man, I don't know, this one was like twelve dollars. I still think "Ice Hockey" for the NES is my favorite!

I usually have so many projects on the to-do list that in those "dry spots" I can just pull something off the list. More adverse is my tendency to slip into "just play videogames" mode, where I hardly work on any projects at all. The saddest of all, though, is the zillions of unfinished projects that I will probably never pick up again...!
