wow. basement/bathroom mushroom finders unite. Tom 7 - you are the second thing to pop up on Google after searching for "basement mushroom"...and the comments turned out to be so helpful here. I now know I have Peziza mushrooms and a lot of cleaning/drying in my future. |

I, too, have just discovered the pasta shell variety of mushroom that emerged outside of the shower in a corner....weird that just yesterday the bathroom was cleaned and there was no sign of any type of mushroom....how could it grow that fast?! DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT IS DANGEROUS OR A HEALTH HAZARD? BECAUSE EVEN IF I FIND A WAY TO KEEP IT FROM GROWING BACK, IS IT AN INDICATION OF A BIGGER PROBLEM I CAN'T SEE LURKING BENEATH THE TILE OR SOMETHNG?!? |

We have little mushrooms growing on our basement floor. It got wet in there before we got a dehumidifier, and the moisture condensed on the pipes and then dripped down on a lot of stuff. The floor is just concrete, and there are no cracks. They just came from nowhere. They are like the rolled up pigskin type. Actually, I first thought that it was a wet rawhide bone (even though we don't have pets), then I thought that it looked like once-wet, now partially dried up lasagna noodles. Then I noticed the itty-bitty ones nearby that looked like little petals curled outward, like a calla lily. Really gross looking! Oh well....we threw some salt down as soon as I started reading this thread (over two years now, wow), and we'll use some bleach later, for good measure, and keep the dehumidifier running. Ick. |

hehe. The vast majority were hand-clicked into the piano roll editor in Cakewalk (though some were literally played on a keyboard; I think it's easy to tell which ones), then output to a hardware MIDI sound module called the Roland SC-880. It's actually a pretty fancy box, but I almost only use its square and sawtooth waves (Bank #130 has the best ones). Some of the songs are made through my program MidiMML, then played through a NES emulator. Lately I've been working on my own software synthesis which may become a tracker, but there are no songs up using that tech yet. |
