That's what the post was about; being able to verify after the fact that a vote was counted. If you want to see an example of how it might work in practice, check out the ThreeBallot paper that I linked to. |

Hi Tom.
Cool fonts and blog.
Love the voting issue you are laying out.
I like the electronic voting thing in theory, but in practice it seems to have architectural issues that both I and the public at large need to understand better.
Would you offer any criteria for valid voting technology?
Perhaps I should phrase this in terms of
voting technology validation schemes... ?
How can we be sure all votes are counted and
how can we be sure all counted votes are valid?
With presidential elections coming, this is a very large and complex issue for the public to understand, let alone speak to.

I got a 1390 on the new SAT. Is that bad? Is it good enough for college? |

You should be able to get the source code from the download page (just click the icon or the link). It's compressed with bzip2, which you could get via cygwin on windows (it might be standard on OSX, and it is standard on linux). After that, check out the file 'HACKING' for instructions on how to compile. |

I found that while doing some costume research. Devo 2.0 freaks me out! |
| |
Yeah, waterplate is (naturally) a plate covered in water. The lightbulb is filled with water to make it a little different from the standard high-speed bulb drop cliche, if that can be said to exist. ;)
Unfortunately I don't remember what kind of camera we were using... |
| |
Tom, nice costume. I hope this link doesn't have the same effect it had on me, but I feel you should know:

Good fun. Thanks for posting these. On a couple of the movies (bulbdrop, waterplate2), there appears to be liquid scattering with the other objects. Is there liquid? If so, why? If not, what am I seeing?
Also, what kind of camera did you use?

[ Bathroom? Mushroom! ]
I am glad to hear that other people are suffering with the same problem. My son showed me two weeks ago mushrooms coming out of our dining room floor by our front wall of the house. We discovered that their is a crack in our stone. the crack is repaired by the mushroom has returned and is growing fast. We have only been in our new home 1yr 1/2. My son suffers from asthma. We will be bringing in the professionals and possibly getting a lawyer. This sound serious. |

[ Bathroom? Mushroom! ]
This morning I saw a little cluster of beige and gray mushrooms growing under the radiator in my living room. Since I have suffered from severe mycophobia (fear of fungus) since childhood, this was really distressing for me. I have scraped away the horrible things and cleaned the carpet with bleach, mold and mildew remover and salt. I'm drying out the area too. Anything else I can do to prevent this happening again? The mere sight of a mushroom makes me feel nauseous. |

[ Bathroom? Mushroom! ]
We found a mushroom growing out of the floor in the bathroom after some water damage occured. We plucked it out and I sprayed Lysol in the area and have not seen once since. This was a few days ago, so we are hoping it works, but the Lysol spray did say it kills mold, mildew, bacteria, and FUNGI. You never know.
Glad we are not alone! |

Voting is for fuckheads. Just decide the winner of every election using rand(). Make sure its statistical properties are terrible.

heh well it's been months and my friend kristie still hasn't done shit about her tropical mold factory of a bathroom, soon the mold will grow into a new species, maybe even more advanced as humans like on the movie evolution. i shall go venture into her bahtroom soon, and take a picture to show what happens if you let this go on for months. =) unless maybe she has gotten it fixed, i hope so. i'll keep you all updated. |
