I agree with Kalypso... the #1 priority is to stay hidden when he has the railgun. There's no point in dodging because it won't confuse his aim and the railgun is a hitscan (instant) weapon. The only exception I'd say is that if you hear him bouncing up for the BFG, which he'll do if he can't find you, you can hit the sky target with the machinegun and he'll almost always die with a -1. He might rail you in the air, but it's worth it.

Thank you... I tried also to hide off pillar ( it seems wide black stripe on this pillar ) and rail or dodge him with R.Launcher. Is it good idea?

This is the same explanation as above, Tom 7 pretty much nailed it, but I already wrote this before realizing that.

you have to frag him the moment he touches the ground after he lands from the jump pad. listen to the sound of the jump pad launching and shoot only when his feet are just about to touch the next platform. right from your hiding spot, and then if hes alive shoot again at the same spot Immediately,

when he is jumping up from the lower platform, unto the main one with all the pillars is when you shoot. he is most vulnerable the moment he lands, cause his feet always touch the same spot and he cant kill you effectivelty if you shoot your rocket and hide before even seeing if it hits him.

its easy if you focus on not being visible and concentrating on shooting where he lands, the moment he gets there.

They're not in the sophomoric directory; I made a whole new collection ("minor leagues") for anything that's automatically filtered out. You have to subscribe to it from the update screen.

There's no way currently, but something like that will definitely be in the rewrite of the level browser.

I've been away from Escape for awhile but I might start getting back into the swing a bit. One annoying side effect is the huge amount of, uh, "simple" levels that have been uploaded since I left. Is there a way to automatically move a level into the "Sophomoric" directory if after, say, 5 votes, it has an average of below 30.0 or so for both style and difficulty?

The most popular strategy that I know if is to hide behind the pillars surrounding the jump pad (so he can't rail you from the other side) and then when you hear him bounce up to your platform, send a rockets to where he will land (and then hit him a few more times before he rails you to death!). When he doesn't have the railgun, you can snipe him with yours.

If you can, please tell me how is the easiest way to destroy that guy ( Xaero ). I dunno how I can do it, because I tried to hide off pillar, but he came to me and fragged me with railgun or Rocket Launcher.

hi tom, I just updated and I like the del-bookmark option, though I yet didnt understand the <ins>-option with bookmarks.

I suspect deletion to be buggy, but I couldnt reconstruct the conditions yet. when i deleted some elder bookmarks on a level, where there had been more than twenty of them, the dates of the bookmarks rotated in some random way.

still the key-event-handler only looks at the keysym.sym part and so the zooming isnt working for german keyboard-mapping. I changed the sources play.cpp and edit.cpp accordingly again, and it works fine here. shall i mail a diff-file to you?

You should use "MB gravity" to correct the elevation data in MotionBased. It's the best. It looks up the actual elevation at the location on some topographic map and uses that instead of the GPS elevation reading (which is quite inaccurate). You can turn it on in "Activity Options" (or something like that. it's in the upper right-hand corner).

With the new Windows version, I'm getting a console window along with the main program window. The first time I saw it, it was complaining about not having redlight.wav, but it seems to always show up, whether there's any text to report or not. (I created the required files to make the sound warnings go away, and it still appears.) Closing it crashes the program.

Unfortunately Sourceforge isn't behaving right now, or I would've checked this, but are you possibly compiling with MinGW and not using -mwindows? MinGW creates a win32 executable if you have a WinMain(), obviously, but if you don't explicitly specify -mwindows, you'll also get a console window.

P.S. thanks for the N key! Maybe I can finally solve that Minnesota-shaped one now...
