No, unfortunately it slows down a lot and does not run smoothly. I guess Escape is too complex ;)

At first glance I thought you watermarked the picture with some ... anatomic illustration of lungs? Then I noticed it's actually printed on Cortney's shirt. What's that?

Thank God I'm not alone on this. My wife was starting to accuse me of missing the seat and hitting behind the toilet!

Summary of remedies:
1. Salt
2. Hydrogen Peroxide
3. Bleach (hasn't worked for me)
4. TKO

Any others?

mm: Does it work with animation on? What happens?
When I can get access to an Intel mac I'll try to see if I can build ppc/intel binaries.

Tom, I've got a new (Intel) MacBook OSX 10.4.6 (the smallest one available) - Escape works normally when I unable animation in the preferences menue what doesn't bother me. I thought you might know this as a "no bug"-report (;

R-G-B is definately an elegant solution.

I do understand the arguments contra more colours.

When I uploaded my most recent level, "Contact" I got an error message that said "upload failed, Error 404", but it actually did upload successfully.

Minor editor bug: if you're in the bizzaro world, place a panel or teleport then press 'escape' to cancel, the editor populates the square with the tile from the real world.

Yes, I've beaten all the levels on nightmare. Hunter is pretty hard.

I don't think there'll ever be more colors of panels. I think the R-G-B scheme is elegant, and just enough colors to do interesting things. One of the things that makes level design fun is the paucity of building blocks--too many pieces and it becomes to straightforward. I also don't want there to be too many colors, because I want the game to be accessible to color blind folks too. So, we'll probably have to do with 2-digit su doku for now! ;) (No doubt there are fancier embeddings..)

Yeah, bookmarks should persist across edits to a level. There's a comment in the code to this effect in the spot where I'd do it, which I should get around to with the overhaul of the bookmarks system.

I think more colors/colored panels would be welcome--I often find myself thinking "I could do something soooo cool if there were more colors" when designing levels--but not a high priority. Probably just as often I enjoy the simplicity and limitations that the 3-color scheme enforces.

On another note: how about bookmark support in the level editor? Making my recent two looooong levels, it was annoying while designing to have to keep resolving every time I opened it if I wanted to see what the circumstances were at certain points with X number of panels activated, etc.

Really good aim is the key on Nightmare, and also being ruthlessly agressive, until you get to Xaero, then you have to camp because his iam is invincible,

a good way to improve aim is to practice bunny hopping side to side while shooting at the same spot on a wall. and keeping your arm steady and relaxed. or standing still and shooting at moving opponents, you can set yourself on god mode, and shoot at bots on a level with a lot of jump oads while standing still thats good practice also, but i havent tried it myself.

also a good mouse is just as important as a nice video card, if your FPS remains consistent without any lag, and your mouse is very responsive then you should be strait,

the bots on nightmare tend to have inferior aim after they have been hit or while they are being shot, if you shoot them with accuracy they are less effective at killing you, so shoot them fearlessly and when you land hits their aim is less effective.

i use a razer diamond back, a good investment, a generic mouse isnt as responsive, but if you use a generic mouse well it wont be an obstacle.

I tend to use a low sensitivity I see that Fatal1ty
uses a low sensitivity also and he simply lifts the mouse and moves it when it gets near the edge of the mouse pad, i think thats a good strategy because it keeps the muscles in the wrist at ease. the diamondback is adjustable so i change it on the fly usually, but i still think lower is better, when it gets too high the muscles in your arm get to tense and it becomes hard to make minor adjustments.

yeah beating the game on nightmare really isnt the product of any magic hardware, it just takes a ruthless player with good aim, also the bots have a tendency to be somewhat predictable so go after them, and concentrate on killing as many as possible even when your health is at 1

Xaero we've discussed at length in previous posts, so reading those made by TOM 7 and I, and also keeping in mind general q3 pimpage strategies and you should be ready,

I didnt beat the game in one sitting i had to come back every few years, and play it again and each time i got better, i played it alot when it came out, and then i stopped, a year later i would play for a few weeks and then leave it alone for 9 months initially i thought that hardcore was nearly impossible and after a lot of playing nightmare became a breeze, but i never played continously for a long time I would always take long breaks, but a great video card did help alot, asus agp x800 pro vivo, it keeps the game running smooth.

good luck fellow quakers I can understand why we are all here because quake 3 really is a spectacular game, and after many fps games i am realizing that it still holds up as an all time great, and we are the few who recognize its brilliance, its a pleasure to share your company.

be well.
