Hehe. Actually, I got invited to several veggie thanksgivings. But this year was a no-brainer (hah, literally) because of my dad's surgery.

Also: you know you've got an advanced relationship when you have a "wife-in-law." ;)

I'd prefer it if he had done a better job, that's for sure! There are a few good things about it, but in many ways it is an abomination. Worse still is people's reverence for it, which makes it resistant to rewriting.

You hate Knuth for inventing TeX? Would you prefer to write your thesis in word? :) :)

No, but I sure know 'em! At least the FCC regulated ones from my radio days...

One complication is that I can't include things like "ass" or "pee" since they appear in so many legitimate words.

I feel mere animosity for Knuth, rather than outright hatred.

Do you have some kind of standard swear-word dictionary or something for that purpose?

No, I replaced that one by a hand-me-down from my brother. Being covered in melted plastic wasn't its only problem...

I mean, you should do whatever sort of Thanksgiving you want, and I realize you're probably gonna just keep doing it with your family. I really just like making any excuse to think about the fine feast we made this year, that's all...

3301. Marc (c-24-128-249-112.hsd1.ma.comcast.net) – 30 Nov 2005 08:03:38 Thanksgiving Results ]
Yes, nice job picking a trickier time of year to start, and having it go well. If some year you want it real super easy, you can always come to my house, where we like to make quite a feast, all vegan. This year, me and my housemates plus my wife-in-law Christine made: stuffing, "turkey" seitan, gravy, biscuits, yucca with mojo, fried plantains, super-creamy mashed potatoes, broccoli, lentil loaf, salad, pumpkin pies, cranberry banana bread, and cinnamon pecan sticky buns (which some said was the best dessert I've made yet; "happiness is stickiness" was my motto for the night). Which was admittedly a bit over-the-top for 5 1/2 people...

Is that the mp3-player you plastic-soldered together?
