Lemme see... ehm...

so that's -8, plus or minus (I'll never understand why that doesn't matter, it's quite a difference) square root (is that how you say it in english? In dutch it's 'wortel') 64 minus 4 times 15, divided by 6...

(writes frantically)

Hmmm, according to my computations, x would be -1!

Wow!!! That's the first time since 1984 that I actually USED the quadratic formula to solve an equation!

Thanks!
(insert triumphant trumpet sounds here)

Haha, that's great that you bothered to memorize the quadratic formula but not what the inputs are. ;)

(FYI a is the coefficient of x^2, 3 in the above, b the coefficient of x (8), and c the constant (-5)).

But... but... I REALLY don't know how!!!
I don't see any a or b or c in that equation!
:)

(and yes, I know, I am a hopeless case)

Use the quadratic formula!

What does it matter? Just wait. You'll see.

Tuuur, quick! Solve this algebraic equation for x!

3x^2 + 8x = 5

The quadratic formula is the only one I know by heart.
But I haven't the faintest idea what can be done by using it...

Not that it matters. I haven't needed it ever since I last had to use it during math class.

Sure, as long as the functions are continuously differentiable.

But do you really believe in integration?

I didn't see anything non-computable there!

...and you believe in real numbers.

Hey all, I found it really easy beating Xaero on Nightmare, all I did was camp in the corner near the health and every so often he would come and get some health due to being hurt from jumping everywhere, you just get on the very edge of the pillar, at the back and he will come past and pick some up, make sure you get a railgun when spawned into the arena because this is what you shoot him with.

Im currently working on doing all the levels on nightmare, found some pretty easy so far, I have a shit mouse so I cant really beat the harder guys like Anarki and Phobos etc. Are they going to bring out Quake 4 or not?

1142. Tom 7 (pcp01253016pcs.hamden01.ct.comcast.net) – 23 Dec 2003 10:04:41 Quake 3 Done! ]
That's essentially the same strategy that I use, except that I stand behind the piller next to the jump pad, and then when I hear the jump pad fire, I shoot a rocket into the ground and step behind the pillar. Then it's hop behind pillars as he rounds them, firing rockets around the corner, so that he basically never sees you. Also, if you're close enough it's not too hard to grab the bfg while he's respawning, which makes this strategy even more powerful.

There's definitely no secret level, though you can congratulate yourself with a secret level by downloading one of the zillions of maps and bots that are on the net. ;)

I read your notes on beating Xaero, but alas, I was not able to make it work for me... That strategy had already worked for me on hardcore, but Xaero pegged me every time he came across the jump pad... but I had some insight... something I had read about 'tricking' Xaero into killing himself... about 40 times... So here's what I did... As soon as you spawn, run to the rocket launcher, crouch, wait, and watch. He can't hit you with the rail gun from the other platform, so he will do one of two things. He will come across and shoot at you while he is in the air (and miss) or he will try to get to the BFG, where you can fire a rocket and cause him to bounce off into oblivion... I just waited and if he came across to my platform, his having fired while he was in the air gives me time to take cover and move to a better position to take him on as he bounces up... I got pretty good at hitting him in mid air as he came up to my platform... at close range he isn't as deadly with the rail if you can keep pounding him with the rocket launcher... If he goes for the BFG, just keep triggering the ceiling to fall and cause him to bounce off.... don't wait for him to land and squish him... he will kill you as soon as he lands on the pad... It took about 35 minutes to beat it like this, but the final score was 10 to -4... I am disasppointed though, I had 'heard' there was a secret level that presented itself after you beat Xaero on nightmare (and all the other levels) and I'm sad to report that rumor is false... thanks for the help

The reporters like to call it crap art...
I'm trying not to co-opt other people's projects by sticking my term on them! But yeah, I should link up some of these kindred spirits..

Does anyone call it Crap Art other than you? It seems like the Crap Art page should have links to projects other than just AAD.
