[ Bathroom? Mushroom! ]
Wow, so many mushroom problems! I thought I had mold and looked closer and it's little, slimey mushrooms growing out of the shower wall. A few weeks ago I noticed that the wall outside the shower was dropping a white powder (looks like flour) along the floorboard. Inside th shower was clean. I know we need to redo the bathroom, but mushrooms! Yuck! I'm going to try all the remedies and try to dry out the shower stall. I'm in So. Cal. and we till have the window open, not cold enough yet.
I'm so glad that I googled "Bathroom Mushroom". I wonder if I should save a sample of the mushroom. I think I'll take pictures instead. |

You may not be allergic to French wine. They make it differently. Worth a sip or two. Have some benedryl handy though. |

I also didn't know you were a vegetarian. Except maybe I did. But I couldn't remember whether I knew, which was functionally equivalent to not knowing. |

I too, had my daughter come to me and say there was a mushroom in the bathroom. We just moved into this rental home one month ago.
I hear somewhere that Lysol helped. Not bleach. Someone took a lighter & Lysol to one and it never grew back. Most likely, they said, it was the Lysol's antifungal properties and not the flame that took it out.
GROSS STILL - I have a kid with some behavioral/developmental delay issues - he'd be just the one to go in there and see one growing... AND EAT IT! |

Japan is great, too.
Me: My friend is a vegetarian...
Them: *puzzled look*
Me: He doesn't eat meat... do you understand?
Them: Ah, yes! He does not eat beef.
Me: Actually, he doesn't eat *any* meat...
Them: But chicken is okay, yes?
Me: In fact, eh, chicken is also meat...
etc...
Hey, it's France -- can't you just eat a bunch of cheese and wine? :P |
| |
Rob, you must have had second lunch or dinner? I didn't have time for any carpets... |
| |
No indeed! There are several vegetarians here (it is pretty common among academics) but every meal when we mention it to the staff, they behave as though they've never heard of such a thing, which is pretty funny except for the hunger part... |

I didn't know you were a vegetarian! Yeah, Rob's got the idea, I think.
When my mom went to France, she would ask for the cheese to be left off some things, and be told, "No, we could never do that. It wouldn't taste good." She's joked about that ever since.
Fortunately, this feature is not common to all French-speaking places. Montreal was quite awesome for veggie food.

Actually, I went to the Magic Carpet and had the thing with Ninja in the name (without even having read your recommendation!), and was disappointed by the baked tofu quality quite a lot. |

Adam has ported the code to Java for mobile devices. I'm not sure if it can run on the Palm, but I'll ask him. I'm planning to do an iphone port when the development kit becomes available, too. |
| |
Is it possible, or are there any plans to have a palm version in the future? Much of my freetime is spent away from my desktop and my palm is easier to carry than my laptop.
Excellent logic Game. |

[ BAD SAT SCORES ]
Tom- Yeah it does ask for a specific topic, I'm planning on failing the essay. The point of it isn't to score highly on it, its to try and make a point to ETS. If I'm the only one who does this then it will probably go unnoticed, but if others do, it could have an impact. Of course I'm not expecting this to happen, I'm just trying to do my part in as many ways as possible. |

is 1334 a bad score? with a GPA of 3.1. |

Yeah! I think the camera is quite decent, actually. If you download them off the phone rather than e-mail them, then they are about 4x bigger, too.
The activation is done in iTunes, not the store, so there's no chance for haggling! |
| |
Is that photo taken with your iPhone? If so, that's seems to me to be a very fine phone camera!
So did you get a good phone number for it? |

[ BAD SAT SCORES ]
I agree that the SAT essay section (well, I'm too old to have taken that one, but I have taken similar tests) is garbage. The main reason is simply that I do not believe there exist objective criteria for evaluating writing, because brilliant writing does not come from a formula. It's especially pointless for college admissions, where the student gets a perfectly good opportunity to demonstrate his writing in the application.
Phil, doesn't the test ask you to write on a specific topic? If so, you'd probably fail it outright (I'm sure there are many other students who try the "memorize an essay" strategy, and that this is easy to detect) and your protest would only be half-heard by one person. A better option might be to write an op-ed letter to a newspaper. At least then a few dozen people will read it and you can actually put that thing on your college application. |

@*$% the SAT I took it once and got a 2110 (800 reading, 680 math, 630 writing) because i wasted hours of my life studying for it. Now my guidance counsiler has advised me to take it again, so im writing an essay ahead of time, memorizing it, and copying it onto the sat essay section about the SATs detrimental effects on society, and on the confidence of the many bright people who for whatever reason do not do well on it. Maybe if enough people did this it would have an effect who knows.
