Yeah, this thing kinda... stays with you.
I did it for a decent amount of time a few weeks ago and I STILL see it. Urgh. |

I first saw the McCollough effect in a class in perception I took in 1998. I don't remember if I've repeated it since then. But I definitely see the effect without staring at the color grids first.
I'm sure it is a coincidence. Probably.
No, I'm not an extrovert.
What does he mean, V1 is monocular?!? |

The green on the horizontal lines is really strong for me, while I can't seem to get the magenta on the vertical lines to be anything but rather subtle; I barely noticed it at first.
The longevity of the effect is nifty, though. I keep wasting time by rotating my head and watching the colors go away and then return changed. |

Yeah, I started feeling really weird as soon as I looked at the green and magenta thingies. |

You had a plan for a 9/11 memorial? And I was not informed? |

This isn't quite as moving as your plans for the 9/11 memorial, but still pretty cool. |

I wouldn't call it "my" program, Sketchup is owned by Google. Which one is Horatio? |

Style is totally subjective... I'd agree with "just plain fun" as a good indicator of style. |
| |
I would give high ratings for style once the level is really fun and interesting to solve, even if it might look kind of "ugly" ;) |

Sometimes I find the rating system difficult because it depends on what criteria you use for 'style'. A year ago I used to rate 'style' as meaning graphically stylish or mathematically elegant. But now I am getting bored with those sort of levels and just rate levels highly if I find them enjoyable. Some levels are just plain fun and I do them repeatedly as I like to keep trying to find better solutions. |

Cool Google earth shot. You should post all your runs that way. |

Hi all, just found two tiny mushrooms growing directly on the tile in the bathroom. I noticed two spots a few days ago, but thought it was just shoe dirt or dust and decided I'd clean it up when I cleaned the bathroom. The mushrooms looked like the ones someone described with a skinny stalk with a hat on. I love mother nature and all, but not this. I slid them off the tile --- anyone else have this? and flushed them down the toilet. I had never seen this on the floor here, and this house is about 30 years old. They weren't growing out of anything, just on the tile. I live about 1/2 mile from the beach, so it's frequently damp, and we have trouble with things drying in the bathroom. My husband is not very good with turning on the exhaust fan when he's in the shower. I sprayed the exposed floor with Lysol, but after reading all this, I am worried they will come back. Anyone else have a similar experience? |

Well, the Intel powerbooks run PPC code in emulation, so everything will be slower until I can recompile for Intel. I'm glad it's playable with animation off in the meantime! |

F- It's a *very* faded iron on of a little girl's face, Zelda. The shirt is from my college work study job, and the little girl was my boss's daughter. We joked that year that any work we did we did for Zelda, and she became our mascot after awhile.
It does look like a pair of lungs. Funny. |
