I think Nightmare was a lot harder than Hardcore, but certainly practicing in Hardcore will help!

Right now im about half way through Hardcore. Does beating hardcore help you get prepared for Nightmare? Or is it like Halo where the difference between Heroic and Legendary is huge?

Well I'm guessing that IV or most competitve scores want at least an 1800 overall, and over 2000 is good too. But it's weird, because most schools don't even consider the writing section!! so it's just the math + critical reading that really matters...you wanna break a 1200 in that...

My question to anyone who has already been accepted or whose child has been accepted is that if my SAT I score is above 2000, with a 4.0 GPA, in numerous clubs (positions for 3: Pres, Sec, & Student Rep) and good recommendation letters...will bad SAT II scores (high 500s, low 600s) play a major part in decisions of colleges like NYU and Cornell?

^^^you combine scores by adding the three parts from sat reasoning. bu subject scores are different b/c they're individual tests.

Alright guys these SAT/college acceptance things are really stressing me out as well. Let's see...it is true that you must have a good balance between your GPA and SAT scores, but in a few cases, those are not the only two things that determine your chances for admission. Most schools want to see that you are a well rounded student and are ready to take on all the challenges that college will throw at you. For example, last year, a girl from my school got accepted to UCLA with a score of 1600 (new scale) and a high gpa. she was a member of various sports, had a lot of ec's, etc...then there was a boy with awesome SAT scores, graduated in the top of the class, but got rejected because he had no "outlet." So since there is no exact formula to determine chances, the most we can do is relax because we can't really do anything about it now.

my stats:
GPA-3.9 unweighted, 4.3 weighted
1670 on SAT *hate standardized tests
top 4% of class
played varsity softball for three years
president of two clubs, vp of one, members of others
bunch of community service
essays could've been better

lol what are my chances at UCLA or USC...kinda considering oxy as well

i would appreciate honesty:) thanks!!

I don't know what the game developers were thinking, especially given the number of times she boarded the train. I would say that was my only complaint with the game.

Insistently double-clicking makes her run, though it helps to not click on your objective but on the ground in front of it. Still she is the most careful person I've ever seen board a train.

I don't even remember if I was running or not--I probably was, but failing to see the run button is a very Don thing to do. Where's the button for the Sonic-esque Spin-Dash move?

For some reason the kids today like to consume their interactive epics in rpg rather than adventure form. I just wish those whippersnappers would quit playing WoW on my lawn.

5338. Jesse (pool-72-95-248-17.pitbpa.east.verizon.net) – 01 Jan 2007 18:01:05 Most frustrating customer service call ever ]
Verizon's customer service policy seems to be along the lines of a dedication to provide the worst customer service ever; I've got five pages of notes about conversations with three different supervisors trying to figure out why my DSL wasn't working; at one point, one of their guys claimed to be having a conversation with a tech worker just a quarter mile from my house who had the problem isolated and 84% corrected, though the next person I spoke with (after the problem wasn't resolved by 6 that evening) told me that it would be impossible for that conversation to take place.

That having been said, how many times have you seen mismarked prices in merchant stores along the lines of 0.50 (cents symbol)? I really want to get two for a penny, but it's never happened. Then again, if the compoany were the size of verizon and had that many lawyers working for them, they ought to have their act together enough to know the difference between dollars and cents and deserve to be taken at their word.

fxt: I'd like it to be included in linux distros so I'm working on the ability to do multi-user builds. This will have the facility to store the player file and downloaded levels in ~/.escape; etc. It won't support auto upgrade though, so single-user install will probably be recommended on most platforms. I will make the multi-user install only a single executable not requiring any "data dir".

I don't understand your rationale for calling the file structure terrible.

5333. fxt (116.33.168.202.cable.static.comindico.com.au) – 29 Dec 2006 05:42:57 UPD: Escape Beta 3 ]
Hey, very nice game you have there.

The Linux version is in dire need of a ~/.escape-game directory (or file) for user data. Without this the game simply will not function if installed for multiple users which is the case for binary packages for most (all?) Linux distro's. The game also needs to know where the data directory can be found and should be set at compile time. Now "make LINUX=true DYNAMIC=true" is good, but another DATADIR=/usr/share/escape-game (or whatever) option is needed.

The file structure is terrible and we need 1 data folder. Clarity could easily achieved by having a src/ for your code, data/ for the game data and perhaps other directories under that if you wish and junk/ for the junk. The binary can go in src/ or ./ it's not as important since it's only 1 file.

An install option for make would be handy but if at least the first two paragraphs are satisfied it should be easy enough for binary package maintainers to release your game in major Linux distros reaching a large audience.

Thanks for the game,
fxt.
