Tristan: I hope so! This one is some straight up computer hackery that might be less exciting for general audiences, but if I can find a way to make a good video out of it, I will. Thank you for your enthusiasm :)
Space and intelligence: I think so, as long as you're just using excerpts and you credit the originals! If you have something else in mind, please ask. (Also I like to see such articles so feel free to drop a note when you upload it, but you don't have to :)) |

Hey Tom, thanks for the update. Just wondering if whatever super useful and exciting project you're doing for SIGBOVIK this year will be made into a video for the YouTube channel? I sure hope so but either way, I'm excited to see what you've been working on.
Keep it rad,
Tristan |

Hi! Glad we accounted for all three. :) I do have an ambitious and weird project for SIGBOVIK this year, which I worked on all weekend and hopefully can get done in time. Watch this spot! |

Hey Tom, one of the 3 here. Glad you still update us every month. I always enjoy seeing what you're up to. Just wondering if you have any thing you're submitting to Sigbovik this year. Good hearing from you |

Monism: Well kinda. The Unibicle thing was sort of my attempt to "vlog" a project, but I seem to gravitate towards the more polished format rather than just talking into the camera. Maybe some day I'll try something more extemporaneous to see how I feel about it. Right now I'm knee-deep in a complex project and not enough time to even do it! |

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate you're a busy man. Your videos are entertaining and pretty great etc etc I'm sure you know that already. Have you ever thought about vlogging some of your hobbies or anything like that? |

Ah, man, I'd need more time. I have a full-time job and the videos themselves take some time to make, plus I need to do the work in order to have a subject to make a video about, and I even have several other hobbies. :) But right now I'm up early on Saturday morning working on a project that will probably become a video, though! And I appreciate the enthusiasm :) |

Do you think you'll ever start uploading to YouTube more frequently? |

This comment is definitely Off-Topic, but, I wanted to comment a "thank you" for creating playfun/learnfun, because I am intrigued to see how long it will actually take to "beat" various games, starting from just the basic input of me showing my meager skills at various NES games to it.
To chronicle the efforts of a couple of computers on various NES games, I actually went through the process of completely automating the process of converting the FM2 output to video files that are then automatically uploaded to youtube, which is hilarious to me (for reasons I'm not quite sure of).
If you're interested in checking it out, the channel is here :

I.. would like to point out, however, that I am not a programmer. I just sort of put this thing together just to see if it could even be done.
Anyway, thank you again!

What's next? Vatican City? Lichtenstein? Luxembourg, to take things to the next level? |

Oops! Well, good thing that's wasn't a new achievement! :) |

That's cool, but Bermuda is not a country. It's a British Overseas Territory. I should know because I'm British. |

I have tried some experiments emulating with GPUs, but so far it has been much slower that way. The GPU isn't naively well-suited to emulation because of all the branching, unfortunately. I have a few more ideas so maybe something will work out... |
|
Will there ever be a way to use a GPU instead of a CPU in the future? |

After some more checking, I found that the second bug above seems to depend on the screen size. The bug disappears if I maximize the window of the program. |
|
Bug: If I download new solutions from the servers, then immediately quit the program without solving any levels, then when I restart the program, the downloaded solutions are lost. For now, it seems possible to get around this by solving any level (e.g. by replaying a stored solution to the end) after new solution download but before quitting.
Also, if a level has a height of 12, and there are more than four solutions in the player file, then the bookmark menu behaves a bit strange: when one tries to scroll down from the start to the fourth bookmark, suddenly the highlighting is lost. One can still choose that bookmark by pressing the Enter key. Or one can scroll further down and then back up to select the fourth bookmark.
