[ Minor victories ]
Should have ROL()d hc instead of c; that might not have set off their suspicions.
(I didn't find the bug by just reading the source, but I did once find a bug by reading an LJ source file when they had a crash bug in it and offered a free permanent account to anyone who found it.) |
| |
There's probably nothing I can do about this, because SDL handles all the sound stuff. But you could definitely get the source package and recompile with -DNOSOUND, especially since sound is not yet enabled in the release versions! |

[ UPD: Escape Beta 3 ]
With Linux Mandriva 2007.1 all I get from escape is an immediate crash. I think it's somewhere in the sound drivrer. This worked on Mandriva 2006.
If a backtrace would be useful let me know and I will post it.

[ Bathroom? Mushroom! ]
I just found this in my bathroom this evening. How fast do these things grow? I was gone for 15 hours today, I come home... and I have mature mushrooms coming from the grout by my bathtub!

Kirima, practice makes perfect! |

Jungle Fever is not as bad as you might think!
Major League levels would be wonderful, I' love to see more of them. I've tried to edit them, but oh my God... |
| |
I've tried hard to make the tutorials such that you are forced to figure out the behavior without too many choices to distract you. Maybe I haven't always done the best job of that, but I'd prefer to improve the tutorials than to give the solution.
Hint: for #17, push the button several times after going through the teleporter to get you started. |

[ UPD: Escape Beta 3 ]
Kirima, it isn't obvious if there is a specific aspect of the behavior you don't understand that is necessary for solving the level! |
| |
I mean levels that don't make me want to die, Max.
Anon: We're going to set up a results page soon! |
| |
Thanks for the post... I was searching for the results (as per languages used, etc.) with no luck. Thanks for the great link to the presentation. It was excellent!
Thanks! |

[ Bathroom? Mushroom! ]
Listen everyone...if you find a mushroom anywhere in your home it is a warning sign that a more serious issue exists!!! I found one in my bathroom, and come to find out upon inspection, I have some serious water damage that led to several types of mold, including black mold. Fortunately, my homeowners insurance covers the majority of the $15,000 cost to tear everything apart in my bathroom, remediate the mold & rot, and re-build it...and this is just minor for what could've been possible had I ignored the situation. Several parties reiterated that I caught this problem at its onset. Good luck to all who face this problem :) |

I meant in October, sorry! That's when I'll finally have some time for projects like escape again. I did start working on it though. There's no need for surprises: The first project is putting the solution manager inside the bookmark system, which will make it easy to do things like edit a solution that you download to make it faster, or zoom out or scroll while watching a solution, or whatever.
The second project is a new level browser to let us tame the enormous collection of levels.
I too would like to play some more Major League levels...! Anyone? |
| |
I'm Kirima, not "Anonymous". |
| |
I'm looking forward for some next airport, would you please upload it very soon, I'm kind of sick of those beginner levels. |
| |
You've promised something for the next month, I'm curious! September will be over in about a few hours, so I'm really curious.
Hope you've had a wonderful 27th?! |

[ Quake 3 Done! ]
The new UT engine looks amazing. I never really got into the single player ones, but we still play the original UT (with ridiculously overpowered graphics cards) occasionally in the computer cluster at school, and there is definitely something to be said for multiplayer games where every weapon is way too powerful. It is a strange kind of balance. And even if the UT itself isn't that good, it looks like the engine may be a new favorite for other developers.
(Also I am cheering for Tim Sweeny's enterprise because he has a strong interest in functional programming, which is my research area..) |
