New T7ES EP: Rolling on floor laughing monoamine oxidase inhibitor (04 Jun 2012 at 01:34)
T7ES - Rolling on floor laughing monoamine oxidase inhibitor
Tom 7 Entertainment System - roflmaoi.zip

What we have here is a new 4-song Tom 7 Entertainment System EP! You should download the zip file for maximum collectibility, but you can also click direct-style to the MP3s:

1. New four song T7ES EP

2. OUT OF RANGE HIGH

3. Apple ]|[ GS

4. This is the title of the EP

I have an impacted colon-load of more music turds, including a bunch of the two-track short form old-days style stuff, but I decided to keep this one self-similar. So if you are feeling like this one is off the rails, then well first of all just like chill out, man, cuz like artistic freedom creative license commons GPL squaretooth, but also second, well I already told you about the saved-up old-style. Anyway get zip.

LD23 gems (31 May 2012 at 23:06)
Ludum Dare 23 was a few weeks ago. My game got some great feedback but might have been my worst showing in the rankings, probably partly because the field was huge (1400 games!) and partly because the game is totally not going to work for casual impatient audiences. I am proud of it though. I love playing these weird and sometimes amazing games. I rated over 100; some of my favorites:

Recluse was a little platformer with nice double entendres and a jaw-dropping twist. Highly recommended downloading.

Pocket Planet is a single-screen exploration platformer and damn fine.

Escape from Mini Mars is by a friend and has great music.

A Super Mario Summary is a game whose idea is a bit better than its execution, but definitely worth playing.

Overpopulous has a charming intro sequence and is a pretty fun short arcade game.

Memento XII is very high quality, though maybe a bit conservative.

Planet Life was hilarious and weird and unwinnable, just like life.

Superpixel was a direct Super Meat Boy clone, but pretty fun in the same way that game is.

SubATOMIC was an unusually complete adventure game with a slightly grating script but some genuinely funny parts.

Space Nurse was an imbalanced but superbly smooth space physics sandbox.

Dr. Biology's Educational Game was a simple puzzle game with a surprise mechanic and LOL-worthy audio.

Lost was a better-than-expected low-res platformer that I unfortunately got stuck (bug) like two screens from finishing.

Tinytanic had lovely graphics and humor, really worth playing for 90 seconds, that ultimately wasn't supported by gameplay.

Super Strict Farmer is a German-style board game with pro graphics and a hilarious title screen.

Aether was an engine better than its game, but is still short and easy and fun.

Rambros was the game I most wish had been finished. It's great fun even in its state and looks like it'd be even more fun with a bro.

Prince of Leaves is kinda "Adventure Time!"ey, including its incessant theme song.

Worlds in Cards was a nice little puzzle/action game in GB style.

Ancestor's Sword was an unusual platformer, fun to play all the way through, partly because I needed to figure out how to exploit bugs to win it.

Ludum Dare 23: T in Y World (24 Apr 2012 at 23:37)
T in Y World
T in Y World - Play that thing!

Sup guys. I made this game in 48 hours for Ludum Dare #23, whose theme was "Tiny World". It is an experimental homage to an old game called ZZT, with some twists like that everyone can edit the game world, making it a Moderately Multiplayer On-Line Rule Playing Game. Other features:

Very expensive simulated color-ASCII graphics
Content & technology double-whammy
False dichotomy
Four new music tracks, including shamelessly self-referential theme song
You can turn off the annoying music
Spoiler 1
Thrilling Computer Science based gameplay
Integrated level editor
Spoiler 2
Boss battle!!

You can play it or get the soundtrack, or both!

SIGBOVIK 2012: The National Month Of Pushing Spacebar (31 Mar 2012 at 22:31)
SIGBOVIK was upon us once again and now it is off. This is CMU's annual satirical research conference, which pokes fun at academics and itself. The conference website has approximately "one nine" of reliability, and is currently down, but when it's up you can probably find this year's proceedings. The papers are no more than half the fun, though. Something else that's not quite half the fun is the conference event, which I emceed again this year. It was a good one, with lots of fresh contributors and a pretty full house and cake.

This year I contributed to the probably-could-work A Modest Proposal for the Purity of Programming, the probably-could-work-but-not-with-that-much-beer Algorithms for k/n Power Hours, the juvenile where is my pants ("play"), and my main submission, The National Month of Pushing Spacebar. If you read only one (or none) make it that one (or none). The paper describes a contest which you can partake in, taking par now (if now is within 30 days of posting), at the website national.month.of.pushing.spacebar.org. But start with the paper.
