I made a new album-a-day last month, and it is finally posted on MP3.COM. [But now it is hosted on my own site. -Tom in 2008] It's called type mismatch circularity. Enjoy!

NEW: Tycon Mismatch team page (13 Aug 2001 at 01:24)
I put up a team page for Tycon Mismatch, our team for the ICFP 2001 Programming Contest.

Results are starting to roll in from the judges. We actually had the best program for one of the inputs!

AAD-4 (12 Aug 2001 at 23:05)
Today I finished a new Album-A-Day, my fourth one. It's called "type mismatch circularity" and it should be up at mp3.com in a week or so.

NEW: tom7misc: VST Plugins (12 Aug 2001 at 23:04)
Marc and I have been working on VST Plugins (plugins for audio editing software like WaveLab and Logic) since the beginning of the year, and now some of the ones we did back then are finally available in source form at my CVS Repository. The ones here now are actually pretty crummy, so keep a watch out for our new fancier plugins. (And a launch at smartelectronix too..)

UPD: mlftpd (09 Aug 2001 at 18:28)
I upgraded mlftpd to support the non-standard but common practice of sending (for example) "NLST *.txt" when doing an "mget". There's a new MLton out, by the way.

UPD: SICO (09 Aug 2001 at 15:01)
I added a new variation to SICO: All Queens. I also added (behind the scenes) a way for me to queue up variations to be played, so that variation is guaranteed to come up next.

All fancied up!
244×240 version
Well, I haven't posted an image in a long time, so here's a rare picture of me looking dressed up. This is my new suit! Quite sharp!

Ad Aware (03 Aug 2001 at 09:28)
Here's a good piece of software for Windows called Ad-Aware which detects and removes spyware (programs installed with other software which do things like download ads or send information out to corporations) from your computer. Run it! (I think I keep a pretty tight ship, but it did find a few DLLs and registry keys that I hadn't known about.)

Pathetic Scum Moron (02 Aug 2001 at 00:45)
For some reason I happened upon this bizarre page, the IBM shrine today. It's an anti-Macintosh page. (I'm not anti-Macintosh, by the way.*) Mostly it's really stupid (though, you've gotta love the 6 year-old propaganda and gifs) but there is one totally hilarious part I just can't bear but to share with you. It's funnier in the context of the page, but essentially he is listing off some things that "MAC" stands for (you know, like, "Mock A real Computer") and finally comes to:

1) Pathetic Scum Moron

.... ??? I'm not kidding. Go check it out.

* There is one thing you never want to do on a mac though, trust me, and that is program in an unsafe language (C, C++). This will be a totally different story with OSX, but with 9 and earlier, it's a world of hurt. (The deal is that bugs in your program can, and do, totally screw up the system because of the lack of protected memory.) But who wants to program in unsafe languages, anyway? [cyclone]
