Make the Pie Higher
(28 Sep 2002 at 00:59) |
Here we go, a poem made up of real quotes from our best president ever, George W. Bush. It was arranged by Richard Thompson:
MAKE THE PIE HIGHER by George W. Bush
I think we all agree, the past is over.
This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty and potential mental losses.
Rarely is the question asked Is our children learning? Will the highways of the internet become more few?
How many hands have I shaked?
They misunderestimate me. I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity.
I know that the human being and the fish can coexist.
Families is where our nation finds hope, where our wings take dream.
Put food on your family!
Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize Society!
Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher! |

Happy #23 Birthday to me!
Do I have the same birthday as Google?
Later I will show you my birthday presents from me to myself: My new used Gibson SG-X electric guitar and Pod 2.0 fake guitar amp. |

News about penises.
(15 Sep 2002 at 00:49) |
Karthik and Max both liked this story, and I do too: Oldest Known Penis is 100 Million Years Old. My favorite quote from the article:
"Siveter, an expert in paleontology, believes ostracods are very sexy animals ..."
Also, in related news scientists have replaced a rabbit's penis with segments grown in the lab from the rabbit's own cell. |

NEW: AAD-11: S-P-E-C-T-R-E
(12 Sep 2002 at 17:54) |
Finally, my 11th Album-a-day is available on mp3.com. (Partly it was my fault for forgetting to upload one of the songs, but mainly they are just slow.) It's called S-P-E-C-T-R-E and although I keep saying that my next album will be experimental, I guess I am still happy enough making the same kinds of songs over and over. I did just buy a new electric guitar and some related equipment, so as soon as that arrives I will probably make a new album and it will at least have different instruments on it. |

SES for Emacs
(12 Sep 2002 at 00:36) |
Today I found a cool Spreadsheet Mode for Emacs. It's good for making mix tapes and itemized receipts / purchase orders. There's another one I didn't try called Dismal ("Dis' Mode Ain't Lotus"), which has a hilarious but somewhat worrisome name... |

30 Days Has September
(02 Sep 2002 at 04:19) |
The poem, you know, has it backwards. It's September that has 30 days, not the other way around.
Today is the 2nd day of September. It's almost unbelieveable that this early in the semester I'm already having an all-nighter! But it's a fun all-nighter, for the ICFP Programming Contest I mentioned in a previous weblog entry. Our virtual robot is wandering around, planning paths and avoiding enemies. He's knapsacking and flood-filling and priority-queueing. He even prints out a neat color map of what he sees. Though I'm sure we'll be competitive, I think we realized too late what the real "interesting" parts of the problem are and wasted too much time programming other parts to win it. But we'll see!
Note for those who want to send me prizes and wishes: Tom turns 23 on September 27! |
